New Delhi, Jnn. Team India's all-rounder Vijay Shankar has mentioned an incident when a Pakistani fan abused Indian players in Manchester before the match against Pakistan in the 2019 ODI World Cup. The 29-year-old Shankar said that this was my first experience of the rivalry between the two Asian team.
Vijay Shankar said that a day before the match against Pakistan, some players went out for coffee, only then a Pakistani fan came to us and started giving us the abuses. This was my first experience of how the match between India and Pakistan affects the people. Shankar said these things on the Bharat Army podcast. He said that we just had to take it. They were giving us the abuses and recording it, so we could not react. What we could do was see them doing all these things.

A day before the match, Vijay Shankar came to know about his participation. He did not get much batting opportunity in the match and managed to make 15 runs in the death overs. However, he impressed everyone with the ball. This was the first time for him when Bhuvneshwar Kumar went out of the match due to injury. He had turned out Imam-ul-Haq on his first ball of the innings and then out to Pakistan's then captain Sarfaraz Ahmad. In the end of the rain-interrupted match, India beat Pakistan by 89 runs based on duckworth and Lewis rules.
Shankar said that he was under a lot of pressure before the match against Pakistan and wanted to rest. He said that it was very difficult for me to sit in a room and do nothing. Only then did I went for coffee and Dinesh Karthik was with me. I thought that the pressure was high, so we should do some fun. Because of this, we wanted to give ourselves some time and chill.
